Blog Roll

Savoring Saturday

April 30, 2011

Friday was a no blog day because of the Kidney stone of doom. I slept and then later at night well during the witching hour (which some say it is all 24 of them for me :D _) I read. It was also when I had the Hagen Dazs sugar overdose lol.

Of course there is more Great Aunt baby cuteness here in this picture. This is Evelyn meeting her new little sister Jillian. OMG how darn cute is that. Evelyn is just enraptured by her. Have you ever seen anyting so cute?

So, early Saturday in the wee hours I spent my time dozing and reading a new book that is going to be coming out by author Melissa de La Cruz called Witches of East End this is going to be a new adult series for her. Melissa primarily only writes young adult paranormal books. I finished the book in an evening/morning. It was pretty damn good. I haven’t read her Blue Bloods YA series so I don’t have anything to compare her previous writing to. Which I am glad about. This isn’t a review of the book. Some lucky reviewer is going to take care of that for you. But I will say this is definitely worth picking up. Melissa has created a very unique new spin on witchcraft and created an alternate world that is pretty interesting, passionate without being seedy, mysterious without being too over the top, a world a person could come to love and buy into.

I also played Words With Friends with one friend and a bunch of people I don’t know at all. Won a few games lost several more. It is like Scrabble and it is an iTunes game. I am playing the free version.  It is pretty fun if you can get people to play their moves. I kind of like Lexulous on Facebook more because if somebody is inactive for a long while you can nudge them to play their turn. I really love playing Scrabble. THERE something you may not have known about me.

Oh! We only had two more unsubscribes over the last day and half or so. I bet we lose a few over the Kidney stone post. LMFAO. :)

What else…. oh yeah! I hope to watch the current episode of Sanctuary that aired last Monday. We didn’t know it changed days, so I am hoping the DVR caught it. We watched the episode from the week before last night. Because thanks to the fucking hackers getting past the “thank you SONY PS3 for keeping our credit card data and personal data safe from dickwads” we couldn’t watch bones or netflix. Though I do suppose I could hook up to my laptop. I have the “CORD” I can never remember the name of it. Maybe I will do that!

DH has to work all weekend so I am on my own again. Which funnily enough is the name of one of his songs. Hey, maybe that isn’t so funny….hmmmm :D

So that’s a wrap!

What are you doing for Saturday? Any of you watching Sanctuary? What books are you reading? Or playing Words With Friends or other favorite online games?

Oh Haagen Dazs How Do I Love Thee?

OHMouthGasm. OMG now has a new meaning. You heard it hear first and don’t forget it. And it is linked up to ice cream…of course. I thought it would be chocolate at least. Alas no….

Flashback to childhood (mine that is)

I hated HATED anything that was almond flavored. Amaretto made me zuke just thinking about it. LOATHED it, couldn’t stand the smell of it in perfume, food, nothing.

Fast forward to the 21st century, I can’t get enough of it. I lurvvvs it, my precious.  I mean, I will try anything with the words almond or amaretto on it now. LOL Don’t worry I’m not hitting the Disaronno the doctors say I can’t booze it up anymore because of my heart (bastages) living in a DRY county (some bastards idea of a cruel and unusual punishment) doesn’t help either but I digress to the new and OMG taste pleasure at hand.

So, we happened to innocently end up in the ice cream aisle “in town” because the selection is always better at the wally world “in town”. And they had MUCHO selectiono of Ben & Jerry’s and Haagen Dazs including this new (to me anyways) Amaretto Almond Crunch – Description (borrowed from their website): crispy almond brittle enveloped in smooth amaretto ice cream creates a rich and crunchy sensation. Oh please, people it was this and much much more!

What I like about Haagen Dazs is that they don’t overstuff their overpriced ice cream with too much crap. Now, don’t get me wrong, I loves me some B&J but the pieces are getting so big in their ice cream, sometimes I can’t find the damn cream! Anyways, it was a perfect blend of just enough bits and sweet creamy amaretto ice cream. Rich? OMGasm so rich…. I should have stopped at the first 4 or 5 bites and left the pint to somebody else or for later.

*shameface* (sung to the tune of Lady Gaga’s poker face)

Guess who had a sick stomach? ME. Walk of blog shame, I ate the whole pint. Man I am still feeling it today. I haven’t been eating as much sugar and junk stuff for the last month or two. And instead of listening to my body when it said it had had enough at 4 bites, dummy me didn’t listen.

BUT IT WAS SO FREAKING GOOOOOD!

Have any of you tried this flavor? I give it 5 out of 5 cones!

Here are a few others I want to try from the Haagen Dazs line:

blueberry crumble

caramel apple pie

sweet chai latte

banana split which we have in the freezer

Another one of theirs I recently tried and really liked was their Bananas Foster. I don’t see myself getting it all the time, because again like the Amaretto Almond Crunch it is SO rich. But yummy.

What are you favorite ice cream flavors?

Like a Rolling Stone

WARNING! TMI TIME!

Not so much! More like a kidney stone took me out yesterday. Man, let me telly you one thing about them. They SUCK. I am sure  many of you already heard me whine about it already. I get them about once every quarter or so. I have to take about 800 pills a day for my heart condition, they say this is a big contributing factor for why I am getting them now. They just started about a year and a half ago.

Go me! This one was really big, big enough I heard it hit the bottom of the bowl when it came out. I didn’t even realize that’s what it was until I saw it staring back at me when I stood up. I had some pelvic pain, but thought maybe I had a bladder infection or something like that. Because normally I get severe back pain before hand. Though I was nauseated and sick to my stomach most of the week. Which hasn’t happened before. Probably because it was so FREAKING HUGE. About as long as a grain of rice and twice as wide and prickly all over. It appears to be a Calcium oxalate stone.

Yes, gross I know, but I saved it. I haven’t been able to capture one in the wild to give to the doctor. I am switching urologists to a new one Aunt P. has recommend. Because the old money grubbing office I was going to never could pin point what type or an exact reason I am getting them. Even though it isn’t a TOTAL exact science according to wikipedia.

So that’s what ruined my Friday, I was worn the hell out from that experience and pretty much slept the day off after. It really takes a lot out of a girl.

I need to drink more water/fluids I KNOW! ugh

Any of you get kidney stones?

Some Things are Too Good Not to Pass On

April 28, 2011

So, it is Thursday and there were about 7 unsubscribes yesterday. Do you think it was the flaming lipstick? Lack of freebies and discount codes? My swearing like a sailor? Bent sense of humor and justice? Religious tendencies? Lets test the last one shall we? *SNORT*

Cajun Lent

Each Friday night after work, Bubba would fire up his outdoor grill and cook a venison steak. But, all of Bubba’s neighbors were Catholic. Since it was Lent, they were forbidden from eating meat on Friday. The delicious aroma from the grilled venison steaks was causing such a problem for the Catholic faithful that they finally talked to their priest.

The priest visited Bubba and suggested he become a Catholic. After several classes and much study, Bubba attended Mass. The priest sprinkled him with holy water and said, “You were born a Baptist and raised a Baptist, but now you are a Catholic.

Bubba’s neighbors were greatly relieved until Friday night arrived, and the wonderful aroma of grilled venison filled the neighborhood.

The priest was called immediately by the neighbors, and, as he rushed into Bubba’s yard, clutching a rosary and prepared to scold him, he stopped and watched in amazement. There stood Bubba, clutching a small bottle of holy water which he carefully sprinkled over the grilling meat and chanted:

“You wuz born a deer, you wuz raised a deer, but now you is a catfish.”

Does Your XYZ Do This?

My dear sweet adorable husband has this habit that drives me around the proverbial bend. Now, let me be honest here, I am no neat and clean freak. But some things will push me over the edge. He will unwrap something new or empty a box of something and leave it on the counter, floor, fridge wherever. The boy does it too, but not as bad as the father. OMFG! It makes me crazy. Pop the top off a soda, leave it on the stove 2 feet from the can.

I have a new ploy I love. In the bathroom when I see this happening now, instead of getting mad, I have been making a huge pile of all the things right next to the toilet. I don’t throw it away, just stack it there on the floor. At first he didn’t notice. So I said the other day, hey, I saved some stuff for you for that collage art you wanted to start doing. He was like “cool”! Yeah babe, it is in the bathroom on the floor. he e he he

Do your people do this?
